Bunyon Keys remembers the stories his grandfather told him when he was but a boy, tales of their family’s history going back as far as the late 1690s. These are also the stories and histories of the area’s African-American population, and Keys allows his readers to look back at these families from a genealogical perspective – enabling them to explore the heritage of Over Three Hundred Years of Black People in Blounts Creek, Beaufort County, North Carolina.

Listed in many documents, I have seen the name spelled as Keys, Kee, Key, Keyes, Kees, Keais, Keen and many other variations.
